Nero: 'YOUTH'
12.06—02.04.2025
’YOUTH’ is a multi-year exploration of the ever expanding community surrounding Japanese photographer + hairstylist Yuhei Nerome. Through a mix of analog techniques including the iconic Big Shot camera most associated with Andy Warhol, Nero utilizes portraiture of himself and his friends (his preferred nomenclature in place of clients) as a document of our current place and time.
Nero began this project, as he does with all of his projects, with no intentions for its outcome. Since converting a disused room in his apartment building’s basement to his studio, Nero’s photographic practice has become an enduring representation of the small and not so small changes seen as part of someone growing up.
‘YOUTH’ is comprised of 34 Polaroids and 6 Large Format prints from Nero’s ongoing series.
